Pain Relief - Palliative Care
What is Palliative
Care:
Palliative care aims at enabling people to live with
the disease, as free of symptoms and psychosocial problems as possible.
The focus of
treatment shifts from cure to care – to improve quality of life.
It is based on a philosophy of care that -

Affirms life
*
Recognizes dying as a normal process and neither hastens or
postpones life.
*
Empowers families to care for the patient, by training them in
basic nursing chores and emotional support.
*
Helps patients and families prepare for living with the
disease, and when necessary, for death.
