Surgical Oncology

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

The twin goals of the division are to improve cure rates and to minimize the effects of both the treatment and the disease.

The department of surgical Oncology at MNJIO provides state of the art Surgical care for all types of cancer in all stages.

The Division of Surgical Oncology offers multi-modality evaluation and comprehensive surgical treatment for malignant diseases of the Breast, Gastrointestinal tract, Skin and soft tissue tumors, Head & Neck tumors, Gynecological and Urological malignancies in collaboration with the Departments of Medical oncology, Radiation oncology, Radiology and other specialty areas.

Our treatment plans are designed not only to reverse the progress of cancer, but also to improve the quality of life for cancer patients.

For the sake of better functioning and providing quality care for the patients the Division of Surgical Oncology is divided into two units. Each unit is headed by a Professor who is assisted by two Assistant Surgeons. Every week two days are earmarked exclusively for Out patient services and two days for Surgery. The rest of the week is spent for academic activities in addition to clinical responsibilities.

The sub division of Plastic Surgery works in tandem with the Department of Surgical Oncology. Staffed by a Professor and an Assistant Professor trained in Plastic surgery, the Department is, in, a enviable position to meet the extensive reconstructive needs of these cancer patients who may undergo mutilating surgery in search of cure.

Ranked as one of the best Cancer Center's in South India, our Department has earned the trust and respect of countless individuals and the gratitude of innumerable patients.
